Gennady Gutkin acquired his expertise on Russian bayan growing up in the Soviet Union. A master player, he won competitions to study at the prestigious Gnessins Institute in Moscow, and toured with a Ukrainian folklore ensemble and the Kiev Circus.

Gennady Gutkin is active in the New York Russian and Jewish community, performing locally, at national folk music festivals, at Carnegie Hall, and New York's Jewish Theater solo and with varios groups.

Gennady Gutkin will be playing on Bayan famous Russian tangos of 20's and 30's (Oskar Stroka, Petr Leschenko) and Argentinean tangos (Piazzolla).
